What started as the Personal Home Page is now one of the foremost server side scripting languages in the computer world. The Word PHP is Hypertext PreProcessor now. It shares many syntaxes with Perl from which it originally came from. It can be embedded inside HTML and it has a comparatively short learning curve.

All dynamic pages are written in some sort of server side scripting languages. As we have already said, PHP is one of them. CMS, forum, blogs and shopping carts are some of the things which come to mind. Joomla and drupal are typical examples of CMS written in PHP while WordPress is a blogging "application" written in PHP.
