I host my website on a shared server at apollohosting.com. On 1/1/08 I noticed I was not appearing on Google's organic search results. I used to be on the 1st page, now I don't even show up. I finally realized someone had hacked into apollohosting's server and put all kinds of spam crap onto every page of my website - stuff like cialis, viagra, redirects, etc.... this was hidden text that you wouldn't notice just by looking at the site, you had to "view source" then you saw it.
I have taken down the site and uploaded it so now it is clean again. But I am sure I was banned as my site was spidered by Google and taken off their results, but... this was not my fault, I can even show proof. Nevertheless, what should I do, who can I contact at Google, is there an email address, a phone number, etc...? If anyone knows any one or any way to address this, please let me know. I have even noticed that my paid advertising on Adwords placement has dropped way down in the rankings.
Any advice, names or contacts at Google, etc... are greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Thanks so much. I already did that. Is there anything else I can or should do? How long does it take them to react in your experience? I was amazed that my server was hacked and within 3 days I was banned from Google.
Thank you.

"I can even show proof."
Just out of interest, how can you prove it was not you?

Double check that the site is completely clean in every way; Google will not reinclude if they find anything at all - and will be slow to believe you in future.
The speed of being removed is just the bad luck of how quickly Google spidered; make sure the site is secure from now on - probably best to change hosts, if the host was the target. If you were, then they may follow you ... and even more security may be required. And vigilance.
Time for restoration seems to vary, but from what I've read it's possibly weeks.
But be patient; it wasn't google's fault, after all.

For proof I have the chat session with tech support from apollohosting where they did the research and figured out the hacking was on Dec 28th... I also downloaded the site on my local computer. Then I uploaded the original site again to make it "clean" again.
All of my sites that were on that shared server were hacked. If you know of any good hosting companies please let me know as I want to change asap. I don't think I was the target, can't be sure, but so many sites and pages were hacked with the same crap.
You are correct, it wasn't Googles fault I just don't know how to get any ones attention at Google or even who to speak to about this. It wasn't my fault either, it was apollohosting who I trusted was secure, obviously their servers were not secure.
Thanks for any other suggestions or help.
