    Hi all,

    Problem :
the "indexed urls" amount displayed in Google Webmaster tools > Sitemaps page is "blocked" since weeks at 49.067 urls. It never passed the 50.000 urls limit...

    What do I submit :

the url of my website is vinogusto [dot] com. sitemaps are referenced in robots.txt.

I submit 2 sitemap index files to google, each with several sitemaps_xxx.xml.

The total amount of URL is ~75.000 for the 2 sitemap index files. each contains less than 50.000 urls.

Do you know this problem ? What should i do ?

    thanks for any suggestions.

    Jack

Google gets bored counting; few of the webmaster tools that involve totals are accurate once they get into the tens of thousands (some are not accurate at any level!).

You'll often find that a page apparently not indexed is there if you search for [a unique string of text] - though I appreciate with a site the size of yours, that's not an easy test to do!

So long as your navigation is OK, andsitemaps tells you the sitemaps have been uploaded without problems, from there on, it's down to Google. They index what they like.

but there no actual links to the pages that can see (apart from the handful of spammy tags).. just the form dropdown. Even with a sitemap google will need to see navigation into the pages... i'm suprised you got as many listed as you did to be honest.

To be honest mate the site isnt good.. its confusing for a first time visitor and theres no nav whatsoever from the vitally important home page. It also looks like a blog.

    What are visitor stats like?

    Thanks for the replies !

Quadrille : Ok ! I had that kind of intuition as my content is quite well (and fast) indexed. Google is a big machine, making no big mistakes, so i took this as an potential indication that something was wrong. I m a bit more confident now ;-)

Freeflyer : Indeed. We are re-designing our homepage to include a more usable navigation. The website is evolving each month... visitors stats : ~6.000 visits / day; 600.000 pageviews / month; 54% bounce rate; 75% new visits; 4.5 pages / visit...

    have a nice day...

I am looking at a newly online site, and depending on which datacentre you look at Google seems to have as few as 10 or as many as 25 pages indexed.

Up until yesterday, WebmasterTools was saying that Google last accessed the site about ten days ago... but in normal search results you can see they have been in the site every day. Now it says they were last there about four days ago; and again, you can see in normal Google results that they have pages cached from yesterday.

Different bits of Google - indexing, ranking, snippet generation, cache control, WMT - all work at different rates, and are not in sync. Not only that, but the various datacentres update at different times and at different rates too.
