I have redesigned the website, which was establish in jan 2008. Even the old is not so old. however i have not added the old pages. I have created all new pages. e.g. the old page was named as 'mobile-development' now the new page is named as "mobile-solutions".

Only the domain name is old, else all pages are new.

Daily, I get the error "Page not found" in the google webmaster and it shows all the old links.

Please tell me how to solve this issue.

create & submit a new sitemap.xml for google.

Preferable no-one tries changing page names for a settled website, also add 404 redirects so u wont loose traffic.

did you add in the file or the code that google provides for the webmaster tools? if you deleted your old pages it might have been deleted too

Set up a 301 redirect from the old to the new URL.

That will pass some PageRank over from the old URLs to the new URLs, as well as retaining traffic that is trying to go to the old URLs.

Google will also update their listings accordingly.

hey freeflyer, play nice please

A Google sitemap 'usually' cause more problems than they solve because people generally forget about them, so when you update your site, the Google sitemap points to all your old pages and screws up very badly, so I'd advice against the Google sitemap.

Best thing to do is to 301 the old to the new as G1 said but don't use a 404 redirect as that's annoying to visitors in case they hit a valid 404 (if that makes sense)

Welcome to the magical world of SEO! smile

There will always be incorrect information about, any industry you go to there will be incorrect information somewhere. It appears more common in this industry though because anyone with access to the internet can do it and some do it well and some do not.

@sundaybluez - this is not a hit on you, perhaps what you have said works well, perhaps it was a misread question, my views are a general view smile

May be it is. The choice of words used here is the reason - there is no "404 redirect". What he probably meant was a custom error message for 404. Many use a programming technique to trap the 404 status and use a script to serve any page. But that is a different story.
