Hey...
I registered a domain yesterday at around 11.00am, but untill today at 13.00 is wasnt registered, and when it was, it was registered to some one else.
I am feeling like some one has seen the domain at the place where i registered it, and registered it, or i have released some press releases and some one has the web address from that and registered it and my register has let me down in some way.
I am feeling angry, but what the hell can i do?
I know when i registered it, and i know when the current owner did, and that was after me, so do i have a leg to stand on or have i lost my domain and lost the cash i have spent on it?

contact your domain registrant company, and when you register a domain they send you the billing info

animated is correct - any time I register a domain name even before my credit card or anything goes through to complete the purchase, I receive a time and dated email stating I bought the domain name. I always receive my email within a few minutes of buying a domain name. Then within 24 hrs I receive the needed information to set said domain up.
So if the company you registered this domain name through sent you a email you have proof - or if they sent you a copy of a bill or invoice for said domain name, that too would be proof.

Almost all of the short, pithy domain names have been taken up. It takes a long time to come up with intelligent, meaningful and easy-to-remember domain names these days.
Some resellers of domain registrars take a bit of time to register domains. As others have pointed out, if the registration process has successfully gone through, your domain name would have been locked. It appears that your registration was not successful. Another reason to go with major domain name registrars.

Well its gone to the manager of the company i registered it with now as i made an official complaint.
It would seem one of these companies that buy domains and just leave them on a parking page have it.
I have all the dated stuff, and have found out times the other company registered it with the company they purchase domains through. It would seem that the company i used, and they use, both use the same major domain register.
Have to admit, i am gutted, its took ages to come up with the name, the concept and then all the other stuff, i have done press releases and articles and now its been taken away.
Guess the lesson so far is, untill that domain is pointing to your names servers and a page, dont release any details of the domain name.
Weill let you know how it goes.
So to prevent this further, who are the best people to register with?

I wont say the name of the company, but will add they host over 200.000 domains and 150.000 websites.
So i am hopeing for a good resolution to this, or at least a full refund because at the moment they still have the cash for the domain.

zawam did you check if the domain is registerd before buying it? and sadly yes many Prowler is right almost all te short good domain extensions are taken so manybe i think that domain was registerd and you didn't know it perhaps.

Well some good news, i have my domain back =)
I am not 100% sure how it got taken in the first place, but it did, but its was done ilegally, so after a week or so, its back in my hands.
I am just wondering now, how was this possible, how did they take it?

first come first served in the domain world  except if its a trademark issue then you can maybe get the domain back

zawam, you may wish to transfer your domain name to DirectNIC registrar (directnic.com). They are one of the largest registrars and their control panel is very useful. They've always been helpful with problems even though there have not been many to speak of over the years. And you are able to lock your domain so that it doesn't get taken.
