I didn't say it was a successful business.

When I think of ecommerce I think of retail or wholesale selling. Search engines don't come to mind. Am I the only one seeing it that way? They don't seem related or perhaps it's that SE's are so specialized and complex that perhaps they really should have their own forums...

... or ...

Perhaps rename eCommerce: Providers, Tools, Techniques forum to eCommerce: Providers, Tools, Techniques & Search Engine Operations. Just changing the name would help identify the forum more completely.

Frankly, that forum saw very little traffic. Keeping it alive for a post or two a month didn't seem worthwhile when it came time to streamline the forums. But...we didn't want to lose the posts, so we migrated them to the place that seemed most appropriate. It's not a perfect location, but it likely is *most* appropriate. I'm sure if you can make a case for it, John would consider moving them somewhere else.

When that topic becomes hot enough again to merit it's own forum, we'll be happy to pull those posts out and create a forum dedicated to that topic again.

Packed it off to the attic then? smile

In other words it's gone. The topic won't revive because nobody will ever find it.

No worries. It will be missed but it can't be helped. smile

I'm sorry Brad. It's a catch 22.

Leave a dying forum and have it die. Or remove a dying forum and have the two posts a month worth of activity shift elsewhere.

Like any other "business" that doesn't get enough customers, it was time for that one to close up shop. It may open again someday, time will tell.

Ok folks...let it not be said that public opinion is ignored around here. wink

The eCommerce forum has been renamed and the description has been edited to make it friendly for "running your own search engine discussions" again.

Now get in there and post fellas. wink

Can't post now if I don't have anything to say right now wink At least it wasn't hard to do and helps others find the right forum for posting. Now we need to mention adding “Server administration” to one of the forum topics smile so the server guys don't feel left out.
