You've all likely noticed some changes by now to the forums including the disappearance of some old forums and the appearance of some brand new ones. As most of you know, the staff has been hard at work giving a make over to the entire site of JimWorld sites, and the forums are part of that make over.
Just to let you learn your way around the new forums, and to give you an idea of the logic behind it, here's an overview of what we've done.
Search Engine Forums
Previously, search engine forums was focused almost exclusively on the search engines and directories themselves. Since JimWorld has always been about learning the ropes, we realized it would be a good idea to ditch some of the less used forums in favor of putting a new emphasis on SEO techniques.
You'll find new forums like Search Engine Optimization 101, which replaces the old Help, New Members Forum. This new forum is designed to be more of an entry point to SEO than an entry point to the forums. It's where to go to get the basics, or to ask a general SEO question that doesn't seem to fit elsewhere.
We've also added some new forums like Keyword Research & SEO Copywriting, SEO Tools and Utilities and Professional SEO issues to provide new places for down and dirty discussions and brainstorming about the issues that impact your SEO efforts.
The Search Engines & Directories area remains mostly unchanged, except that the Yahoo Forum and the Volunteer Edited Directories forum have been combined.
You'll also notice a new Pay Per Click 101 forum. We all know that PPC is growing at an amazing rate and it can be a little confusing to get started in your first campaign. This is the forum to hit to learn the basics about bidding techniques, keyword selection and even vendor selection.
Get High Traffic Forums
This area of the site has probably undergone the most radical make over. We're looking to put a new focus on Marketing and eBusiness here in the forums. After all, what good to high search engine rankings do you if you can't convert th visitors once they get there? Get High Traffic is now divided into two sections, The Marketing Zone, which is all about marketing and driving traffic to your site, and The Business of eBusiness which helps you figure out what to do with them once they get there.
We've introduced quite a few new forums to GHT including eBusiness 101, ROI Tracking and a forum dedicated to Web Logs.
You might notice that a few forums have disappeared from GHT, like the Graphic Design forum, the Young Webmasters Forum and some of the interactive forums like Site Review and Link Exchange. Don't worry, they aren't gone, they've just moved on to greener pastures and some new homes.
Web Development Forums
These forums have also been condensed a bit to make it easier to figure out where to ask your question. You'll find a new Webmastering 101 forum dedicated to all things web site related. From registering your domain to selecting a hosting company to using Javascript drop-down menus, this is the place to go for general web site discussions. You'll also notice that the graphic design forum has moved here as has the Young Webmaster forum.
The programming forums are still there, and you'll find the Database & File Management, PHP and Perl forums right where they were before.
[b/]JimWorld Lounge
The Lounge hasn't been forgotten either. In fact, it's more interactive than ever. The Member's Lounge is still there so that you can let off some steam, but you'll also find the Internet Conferences Forum has moved there.
You'll also notice the addition of a Community Exchange area that features our interactive forums. Here you'll find the Site Review, Link Exchange, Let's Barter, Paid Help and I Want to Sell My Site Forums. Each of these forums are expressly aimed at bringing the members of this community together in a way that benefits all of us.
Rest assured, there are more changes to JimWorld coming down the pipe, and as always we are open to your suggestions, ideas and feedback.

What happened to the “Scumware” forum? That topic needs a section all to itself.

...and the forum for running your own server seems to have disappeared or is that under a new heading? If it's under a new heading, it should be stated there under that new heading.

The Scumware Forum is temporarily gone.
When we redesign and re-update the scumware.com website (in the next couple of weeks), we're going to make the scumware forum specifically available there, where it makes the most sense.
On the running your own directory, that's been merged into the eCommerce Tools section Here
We'll post up a full list of the merged forums by Monday

Where did the HTML and meta tags and wahtever forum go?
By the way, finding the other parts of JimWorld, like this one, wasn't exactly easy. I clicked the JimWorld link at top left, and ended up at the homepage. Eventually I figured out to use the Forum link at the bottom of the page instead.
Some sticky notes in the old places with links here and elsewhere would be a good idea.

Doh! I expected the site navigation to be that small bar at the top, then when I found it wasn't I looked at the bottom of the page. I didn't expect to find it just below the search box. Ho Hum. Clear enough now that i have spotted it. The problem was spotting it on a very busy page.

It seems especially confusing to us long-timers since we are so use to the other arrangements.

That forum has been merged into the new eCommerce forums...You can find it here.
Additionally, you can check out this thread for a complete list of how the old forums have merged into the new forums.

How is running your own search engine considered eCommerce? Sorta not related really. eCommerce involves buying and selling and search engines... well it's about searching and databases. Aside from the ad sales and PPC bids, it's still a different animal IMO. SE's and ecommerce don't seem the same.
