Problems Posting or Logging In?
Troubles getting logged in, and staying logged into the forums typically happen for one of three reasons:
- A userid has been banned from the forums.
You'd know it if you were --- We do not ban members lightly, quickly or easily. Banned members will know they are going to be banned (unless they are Drive-By's) as they will receive multiple, personal warnings via direct email and the PM feature from a moderator.
- You have not completed the "confirmation" step when registering as a new user.
When you first create your account, the system generates an email which is sent to you. This email contains a link that you need to click on, which will "Activate" your account, and allow you to not only log in, but to commence posting. If you have not clicked this link and confirmed your account, you will be able to login, but not post. If you did not receive this email when you registered your account ... ensure that "admin @ jimworld.com" is in your email "White List", if you're using some sort of SPAM Guard on your email. If it is, or if your email doesn't have a spam blocker, and you didn't receive the confirmation email, feel free to directly email our Administrator using the contact information at the bottom of this page.
- You have some sort of "cookie" issue with the forums.
99% of the time, this is the problem with users not being able to post. We recommend clearing your cookies and cache and then refreshing the page (some have needed to go as far as closing down the whole browser first) and then you should be able to post. The following links are the "Log Out" links for our forums. Click on each of them to force a logout, then close your browser windodws, and return to the forums and login again:
http://www.jimworld.com/apps/searchengine.forums?action=logout
http://jimworld.com/apps/searchengine.forums?action=logout
http://www.virtualpromote.com/apps/searchengine.forums?action=logout
http://virtualpromote.com/apps/searchengine.forums?action=logout
This should clear any remaining cookie confusion your browser may have.
If you are still having trouble staying logged in ...
It could be that your cookies are not being cleared out by the URLs above. We recommend that you manually delete any cookie from your browser from "jimworld.com" and "virtualpromote.com" (with and without the "www" . In newer versions of Netscape and Mozilla, you can do this quite easily by Opening up the "Options" or "Preferences" menu item, choosing "Privacy", and then "Show Cookies". They'll be in there alphabetically, so you can find them and delete them easily.
If you're an Internet Explorer user, there's not an easy way to do this within the browser itself. Instead, we recommend that you download a cookie manager such as the one from Karen Ware: http://www.karenware.com/powertools/ptcookie.asp which allows you to view and delete cookies in much the same way that Netscape/Mozilla does.
In either case, once you have deleted the cookies, close down your browser (all browser windows), and then come back, and you should be able to login without a problem.
As a last resort ...
Drop an email to the Forum Administrator for some personal assistance. Please include in the email that you send --- your Forum Userid and Password, The steps that you have followed from the above suggestions, and the best contact information (email and phone) for us to get into direct communication with you. Use this email address (without the spaces): service @ jimworld.com
Thank you, and happy posting!
