Second try first one closed out ?

Ok the forum here has a rule against posting url right?

Well I am confused the great thing of most forums is the
chance to share ideas and information.

Like I know a guy who just opened a new type of Blog Reviewer
but eek I cannot share it with anyone because the url is not allowed ??

Spam is only spam when you ,yourself make money off the posted url ..

A good number of new posters abuse the ability to post links. When a posted URL looks like self-promo, it gets removed. Also, if I'm reading you right, your first post was a link to a blog reviewer. There's no way to tell if the service is yours or not.

The forum allows you to mention popular, well-established, highly-trusted, high-quality, well-known, resources where mentioning it answers a question that was already asked.

It disallows all other forms of promotion, self-promotion, and link drops.

So who decides what is "mention popular, well-established, highly-trusted, high-quality, well-known, resources "

That crap because the greatest resource are sometime the newest thing ... Like I said about the Blog review site ....

Well, the rules have served us well for a good number of years now.

Typically, good resources are established, and, if truly brand new and "all that", they attract media attention of some form.

Sorry if the rules don't suit your tastes, but they work in the vast majority of cases.

And this is one of them. Stick around and you'll see why wink

True. So there's no way the Mods can tell who's profiting from the dropped links, is there? huh

Alternatively, if the itch is that strong to share the url, you're most welcome to place it in your profile and make a reference to it bigsmile

Once you have gained the readers trust for a year or two with useful posts, you'll find that moderators will generally allow links to other sites to be posted, but generally only where they answer a question that was already asked. It is rare for a thread to be opened and for the first post to have information and a link to another site, without a question having been asked first. Other sites might have that business model, but this one here does not. If you want to promote a site, then Digg and other such places are for you. This site is doing something else and serving a different audience.

Please try to keep in mind that mods - whether it's here or elsewhere - generally tend to be volunteers.

So, by suggesting a new spot for mods to go and review links users want to post, you are, in effect, making more work for the mods. I've known many of the mods here for years now, and all are busy folks with little extra time.

While the idea is a good one, it runs into the wall of the real world. Specifically, the forum would simply become a space where users would submit links hoping to get approved (sounds like DMOZ...LOL).

Please understand RSM, I am not saying your idea isn't a good one - just trying to shed some light on the realities from a mods POV. We already have a LOT of policing spam and cleaning up to do to keep the place clean - adding more things to do that add more work to the pile usually isn't taken up quickly. wink

Sites that review URLs and approve them are called directories. That is their business model.

This site is a forum. It is doing something else completely different, and serving some other purpose.

And if spammers don't like the rules, they can always go to digital pointless.

Note to mods: feel free to remove this if it's too specific wink

The digital revolution has ushered in a whole new era of what's know as guerilla marketing.

One of the oldest tricks in the book is called "discovering yourself". Join a forum and post "I discovered this great new site/product called <whatever>. Anyone else using it?" I've seen it here many times. Sometimes the offender registers multiple accounts to carry on conversations about their marvelous "discovery". It's usually pretty easy to spot.

realsuperman, I had a look at the site in your profile.

Here's your page title:

"Powerful tools for SE promotion !Black Hat SEO Technique,BlackHat Tools."

And here are some of your meta tags:

"blog spam software,blogs spam script,spam in blogs,comment spam software,spamdexing software,spamdexing script,link spam,link spam script,link spam software,link spamming,content spam,content spam software,Keyword stuffing,Mirror websites software,blackhat seo,blackhat seo scripts,blackhat seo software,whitehat seo software,cloaking script,cloaking software,black hat search engine optimization,key word stuffing software,google bomb,google bombing software,google bombing script,link bombing software,web scraping software,gray hat seo,white hat seo,keyword spamming,search engine spam,search engines spamming,search engines spamming software"

But I have to give you credit for practicing what you preach... you've stuffed a ton of keywords into your metas that don't even appear on your page. rolleyeys

He really is utterly clueless.

He has no idea about SEO, doesn't know which 'blackhat' methods are obsolete and totally useless, and doesn't understand the concept of 'risk'.

He has clearly never read Google's advise for webmasters, which means he'll never make it, regardless of hat colour.

I expect it'll all fall into place on his fourteenth birthday.

Hi all ... firstly, great forum. A daily read for me and I get a lot of great info from everyone who contributes ..esp, the Mods and senior members ... taa.

Secondly, althought relatively new to forums, this one in particularly, I have been very impressed as to how RSM has been handled, incredibly fair and given the opportunity to make his point and have his say ... other forums would have dismissed him immediately as a Troll ... guess thats why this forum keeps me coming back ... great job and I agree with mj1256
