Maybe I should clarify my question.
If you want your site to rank higher in Google, you have to get related backlinks from others so as to increase PR.
But how about in MSN, do related backlinks from your partners help for a better ranking ?

Since MSN Beta is online now, and will be the new MSN, it's hard to say what will or won't work yet, since they are modifying their algo constantly.
If you're talking about the current MSN, which is Yahoo, then anything that goes for Yahoo goes for MSN, more or less anyway.
No reason to start working on the current MSN/Yahoo results when the new MSN will be released any time from January to July, see how your site does in beta.search.msn.com to get a rough idea, but those results are not at all stable, they try different stuff all the time.
