[link]
I can't believe the 3 top SEs actually got together to agree on something.
Its funny how this happened just after a post by Danny Sullivan over at SEW forums. This thread: [link] seems almost like a cry for a revolution. I didn't think it would have any effect (atleast in the visible future), but this may be evidence of the effectiveness of a movement.
Webmasters, lets make salt!

I'm on board with this to, but inevitably we'll see the law of unintended consequences come into play. Particularly with link frauders swapping links while trying to hoard PageRank to themselves.

You are right St0n3y, it will give webmasters another reason to cloak, and with that, Google will get one page and everyone else will get another.
Even without hiding it, I can imagine a lot of small, and even large directories using this as well, hoping it will help their rank.

However, maybe Google just made it easier to find the cloakers.
Instead of having to have their bot parse lots of wierd javascript, all they need to do is visit your site from a Google IP with a Googlebot user agent string, and then again from some different IP with a Netscape or IE user agent string, and you're nailed.

I fond its funny that google wants webmasters and SEOs to come to the rescue when they spend so much time ignoring us or saying bad things about SEO.
