Hello,I was wondering if anybody has experience with sites as Bighits.com, ExitExchange.com, Adexit.com etc.. These ar all Page Exchange services. I have tweeked my (Horse sites) Banner Exchange program to work just like Bighits.com I'm wondering if you like this sort of promotion? Is it more effective than banner advertising? Would you sign up for a niche targeted PageExchange if it would exists for your niche? Do visitors have a problem with opening a page in the background?

I am serving ads for an adnetwork www.cashcommunity.com and they are paying 10cents per click. Their banners are wonderful and have very high CTRs. Once they even had iwin.com's "click on 33 to win...." banner which had a CTR of over 4%- that's effectively $4 CPM. Now they are having pagoo, iwin, coolsavings etc banners which too have a very good CTR.We all know that given the conversion rates these banners are not good at all. How can this ad network still survive? Any thing to say? BTW, they are the best ad net , I've ever tried. Hope they pay [This message has been edited by naveenpn (edited 02-09-2001).] [This message has been edited by naveenpn (edited 02-09-2001).]

Many visitors will indeed have a problem with pages being opened in the background without them requesting them via a link however if you are on the web to make a profit it may be worth a try.It is still very early days for the commercial side of the internet and even some of the well known sites are experimenting with popups (seen the "Free Shipping" popup at Amazon?) so they might work but it is too early to tell. It is easy for people to say they are against them, a similar thing happened with banner ads but so many web sites exist just to make money that every option will be tried. I have my own popup system that I use to try different ads in and I am going to try putting a poll in one of them to ask people if they mind popup windows. I'll post the results on my web site (in my profile) and let you know. I'm also thinking of making the popup system available for free to webmasters so let me know if you're interested.

Good Question. The owner of cashcommunity posts over at GeekVillage. You could try asking him there. See the following thread: http://geekvillage.com/ubb/Forum4/HTML/004262.html

These are great if you're just starting out with a site and have absolutely no traffic coming to your site. However, once you get going and have reasonable traffic coming through search engines and other more 'legitimate' means (people are coming to your site because they want to come to your site), then you'll want to back off with using these.
