I hope I am not too late. KEYWORDRANKING.COM IS A SCAM!!! They will take your money and do nothing. They go after small companies, persistient sales force who promises everything, once you sign you find out that for the money you pay them YOU do all the work.... it's like hiring someone to read you a book on SEO. They provide generic canned reports, basically "find and replace" company name, no specific analysis to your site, only what you provide to them they take an reformat into another useless report.
BUYER BEWARE ON THESE GUYS!!!!

I've never heard of them until now. There was one that I'd heard about from another forum and I'll have to go back to my archieve and pull it to find out but they were pretty much the same issue; preying on the small business owner, saying they would take you to the top rank legit and in actuality they don't. This company was so bad, that there was a few of the members who actually got banned off of search engines unbeknownst to them until it was too late to do anything about it. Anyway.
My best suggestion is, read what you can here and learn all you can for doing SEO on your own. It might take some time to get your site up to par where you want it but in the long run, you're better off. Look at it this way, what's more worth the cost. Having a site that slowly works its way up the ranks, without worries of being boosted from the search engines; or a web site that may be at risk of getting tossed because of an SEOs bad business ethics? I choose the first IMHO.
I'm far from being perfect in the land of SEO. I've learned a lot since I've been here though. This forum is one of the most awesome resources I've ever found and it's helped me SO much more than any book or web page on the Internet and I'm not kidding!! Some of the things I was coming across on the Internet had me raising hairs on my neck because I was getting so frustrated. But when I found out about this place, I've learned so much it's amazing.
In all seriousness, if you can work your keywords and meta tags, etc on your own you really wouldn't have to worry about someone else's mistake costing you "the farm". You'll know what's right, what's wrong and not only that you will be saving yourself some money in the process of it all for advertising your business.
Just a thought.

Andy Beal is very well-known in the search engine marketing industry. I read his Search Engine Lowdown blog every day.
I cannot, however, vouch for Keyword Ranking's business practices simply because I haven't done any business with them or with Andy. That's not negative or positive information.
Keyword Ranking, though, is one of the very few SEO firms that's listed on the stock exchange (they're a public company)--so, they have investors to answer to.

Investors will be interested in profits not how clients do in the SERPs (even though in the long term they are related).

That's true, but this SEO business can be tricky at times. If you get a bad rap because you got a bunch of client sites banned or whatever then you're toast!
Look at what happened to some well-known SEO firms that got client sites banned. Those investors will certainly respond to rumor-mills and bad press...

STAY AWAY!
I REALLY want to spread the word about the horrible experience my company is having with Keywordranking.com.
I have a meeting with a lawyer tomorrow to try to end my relationship with keywordranking.com. If anyone has any legal advice or experience dealing with this organization please let me know.
Keywordranking.com Keyword Ranking is now three months behind on service to my company, so we stopped payment this month. Now they claim that the contract promises nothing except sending us automated reports. Keyword Ranking SUCKS!
If anyone is thinking of using keywordranking.com, please call our office first, we will do anything to keep you from making a terrible mistake with this company.
We signed a service agreement with keywordranking.com in December 2004 and thought we were on the way to internet success. The second week of December we learned their office would be closed for two weeks, but we still had to pay the $800 monthly fee.
Our sales rep assured us that we would have a full team of copyrighters working to create content that was sure to get picked up by the search engines.
When they finally started working on our account in January 2005 we learned they would “revise” the content we already had posted on our site. They changed two words and we paid another $800. At this point we were very angry, so we forced them to agree to create 3-pages of content each month. In February they created three pages, full of typos, misspelling, incoherent sentences and lies – that they expect us to post on our website.
We were forced to correct the content ourselves.
March 2005 – we received no content and paid $800.
April 2005 – we received an optimization schedule that outlined what they “planned” to do for the next three months. This included the content for March.
At the end of April 2005 we had received no content and paid another $800.
May 2005 – we informed keywordranking.com, we no longer need their services because they were now more than 60-days behind on content. This did not go over very well.
After spending a week calling and not receiving a return call, I decided to just start calling until some would talk to me. After three-hours of e-mails and non-stop calling, I finally made it up the chain of command to the collections person (remember we stopped payment for May 2005). She informed us that our contract did not guarantee anything, so they could not be behind on content. We have months of e-mails from our account rep stating that he was behind on content, but she said it was not in the contract and all she could go on was “what’s in black & white”. She also said if our account went past 60-days they would file a lawsuit against our company.
This is the very short version of a long chain of lies. If you have any questions about using keywordranking.com please send me an e-mail and I will call you with the entire story.
Stay away from Keyword Ranking.

I would beware of this company I have heard horror stories such as the one above as well. They give a lot of lip service once you sign your contract. You will be well into your contract before you realize that they have not done what they said they would do. I have worked for a couple of marketing companies and keywordranking does really good at bad mouhting all of the others who are really good.
Stay away there are a few other companies that are a lot better than them.

Well add another one to the list that keywordranking.com SCAMMED! I purchased their comprehensive adword program for what I thought was a deal at $6000.00! I told the salesman that my site was not yet created and they would have to wait until I got it up and runnning. He proceeded to tell me that was not a problem and they would start the campaign whenever I decided to start it! Well it took me about 7 months to get my site up and going to my liking and I had put off my rep a few times telling her to wait another week about 3-4 times because I was not comfortable with the way my site was working as I did not have mod_rewrite functioning on my OSCommerce (PHP+SQL) site and wanted keyword.html extensions for each product of mine to show. Well I have called keywordranking.com at least 20 times to speak to a human being and the only one that has ever had a voice is the operator that answers the damn calls. I have left countless messages with 4-5 different people at that company and never got a reply back ever until today when I threatened to sue them! Well to make a long story short my rep tells me that my campaign started the day they took money out of account and it didn't matter that I wasn't ready for their campaign or not....My campaign started when they decided to start it! I had no choice in the matter whatsoever and I told them I wanted a refund and she bluntly tells me they don't give refunds! I am in the process of consulting a lawyer. I have also started a website that I will make sure gets to the top 10 for keywordranking.com just to let everyone know how bad they SCAMMED ME! I will post every email I ever had with my rep as well. I will also put all recorded messages of the phone calls that I have made to them which always ended in a recorded message....(Please leave a message). This company flat out is the worst company I have ever dealt with! I will be filing a complaint with the BBB as well tomorrow. I don't know about any of you but if you tell someone to wait before starting a job for you the person that you contract NEVER starts until you give the go ahead.....I am flat out in disbelief that I am being told my campaign started when they wanted it to! There will be a new site called keywordrankingsucks.com very shortly if I don't get reimbursed immediately! They may have taken my $6000.00 but they will have lost plenty more in the long run! Good luck keywordranking.com!
For those of you considering this bogus company GOOD LUCK!
With Regards,

folkxrock, fubar, those are some pretty strong allegations. Do you care to back up those allegations with specifics or proof that you've been scammed by that company?

I hope our lawsuit will prove the point! In addition, my post is no rant.
Keywordranking.com stopped providing service more then two months ago and they continue taking funds from my account. Their response, "We were providing reports and other services." The automated reports and services are available FREE online from several sites. We have documented proof via e-mail correspondence they have not provided the service we were promised. We will be happy to disclose all materials in a new website as soon as we have completed all legal action.
PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM keywordranking.com Keyword Ranking Websourced, Inc.

bhartzer,
I will be providing plenty of proof very shortly. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt before I expose them. I have been in contact with my lawyer and they have breached the contract in more than one way. The website I have registered will be filled with other clients that were scammed by keywordranking.com. I will be providing signed documents, emails and recorded conversations amongst other things.
With Regards,

Keywordranking has a shoddy record with the BBB.
Visit the website of the Better Business Bureau and search for "keywordranking" under the section "Check It Out". The BBB report on Keywordranking / Websourced states "The Bureau has processed 22 complaints about this company in the last 36 months concerning unfulfilled contract and refund and credit issues. Eighteen of those were processed in the last 12 months"
Can you find any other large SEO company with such a bad BBB record? I couldn't!
Also check out Alexa/Amazon for Keywordranking.com the reviews. Out of 11 current reviews, 8 reviews are very negative.

I went to BBB and it seems you forgot to include the sentence Of the total complaints in 36 months, 20 were resolved. In 2 cases the customer was not satisfied with the company's response.
In SEM there is always some customers that arent happy, so that is not a bad record.

Lubelu, in my opinion, claiming "that is not a bad record" comes across to me as a little naive. That's like saying that Keywordranking was involved in 36 lawsuits, but 20 lawsuits were settled.
If you were a company and a client submitted a complaint with the BBB, wouldn't you do your best to resolve it so that you weren't put on some sort of BBB "blacklist"? But that is beside the point. For a truly reputable company, there shouldn't be so many complaints filed in the first place!
The fact that there were so many BBB complaints or "lawsuits" in the first place is in itself very significant. Of course there are always some customers that aren't happy. However, I repeat, please try to find another SEO company with so many BBB complaints on file. In addition, please try to find another SEO company with so many negative reviews on Alexa/Amazon. As I said, I couldn't.

You probably won't find another SEO company because there aren't any SEO firms that are as large as Keyword Ranking right now. And as far as I know, there aren't any other SEO firms that are Public Companies.
But then again, don't forget about Traffic Power, who I think has changed their name a few times.
As for the Alexa and Amazon reviews, I wouldn't put much weight into those--anyone can rant or rave about a company there without much verification on whether the complaint has any merit. The BBB verifies complaints, as far as I know.
